Using the site as a member

This article is meant as an overview, to show you how you can use the site as a member. Other use as an author, officer, or administrator are in addition to this.

Pubic features

Public features require no sign-in, and can be accessed by anyone.

Front Page

The front page has articles on it that are of interest to the public and members alike. No sign-in is required to see these articles. An RSS feed is available to make sharing of these articles easier.

Calendar

Some events can be seen by the public. Those events intended for public attendance, put on by our group or another, are available for the public to see.

Content

Most content can be seen by the public. This is the main function of the site, so we like to share as much as is practical here.

Comments

We appreciate comments from everyone, even opposition. So we invite the public as well as members to leave comments.

When leaving a comment, a name, email, and verification by captcha is required. This helps to identify who is leaving the comment. If signed in, all of this is provided by your login.

Sharing

The icons at the bottom of the articles are for sharing on social sites, bookmark systems, etc. This helps get the message in the article out to more people and improves performance with the search engines, so please participate in sharing articles if you like them.

Archive

Old articles that don't apply to the present are held in the Archive. Member exclusive articles are still not available to the public.

Everything available to the public is listed under the Site Map. Everything listed to a signed in member is also available to them here.

Member exclusive features

Content

Member exclusive content is available. For example, there is an area for meeting minutes that is available to members, but not the public. The menu option and articles will be visible when logged in.

Calendar

We have events that are exclusive to members, such as our committee meetings and any gatherings not open to the public. These events will be visible to the user when signed in.

Edit Account

This menu item is available to help you as a member to assist us in keeping your information up to date. You can also provide a profile picture (moderated), and there are some configuration options here. When anything changes, please log in and change your account information.

Forums

This is an area used for voicing your opinions, and having discussions with other members. This area is not available to the public to see or to contribute. The most popular area is the "Shout Out!" section. Leadership looks at this once in a while to see if there is anything the membership is concerned about that is not being addressed. It is truly a place where your voice can be heard!

FAQ

More frequently documents on frequently asked questions are available to registered users of the site. Signing in is necessary to find these whether via search or browsing from the menu option.
