PCTEA ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENTS FOR FEDERAL AND STATE RACES
Kent, Ohio - The Portage County TEA Party today announced its endorsements for federal and state candidates for the election on November 6, 2012. In making the announcement, Executive Director Tom Zawistowski said, “When Chief Justice Roberts made the announcement about the legality of Obamacare this June, he said that, “It is not the job of the Supreme Court to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.” We agreed. The time for the American People to do the vital job of electing officials who truly represent their values and their dreams for America is November 6th and we intend to do just that.”
He then announced, “It is with great pride and hope for a better future for our Nation, that the Portage County TEA Party endorses Mitt Romney for President. We have no doubt that he will steady the ship of state and release the full power of our private business and industry to create millions of tax paying jobs and grow our nation out of this financial crisis.”
He continued by saying, “We are equally excited to endorse Josh Mandel for US Senate and look forward to bringing the same level of conservative thinking to that body as we did to the US House in 2010. Mandel will vote for the people before the party and we welcome that commitment. We further endorse Congressman Jim Rennaci in the 16th Congressional District, Dave Joyce in the 14th Congressional District and Dr. Marisha Agana in the 13th Congressional District. They are all dedicated to stopping the spending, stopping the borrowing and balancing the federal budget. They are also dedicated to restoring our individual liberty and freedom by retrenching federal government intrusion into our personal lives and into our businesses.”
Moving to the Ohio state races, Zawistowski explained, “In the race for Ohio Senate we endorse incumbent Republican John Eklund who has worked hard to become a familiar and well-known face in Portage County and is an excellent representative of our values and views. In the Ohio House, we are fortunate to have two extremely talented and dedicated candidates in Matt Lynch in the 76th District in the Northern part of the County, and Nick Skeriotis in the 75th District in the Southern part of the county. Both are conservative thinkers who believe in the Constitution and will defend it while in office.”
He concluded by saying, “Our organization believes that too many voters ignore the role of Judges when voting. These are key positions in our government and deserve attention equal to the other candidates. We endorse and urge voters in Portage County to vote for Robert Cupp, Sharon Kennedy and Terrance O’Donnel for the Ohio Supreme Court. We further endorse Mary O’Toole for the very important Appellate Court Judge position.”
Voters can find information for all federal, state, and local races and issues on the organization’s website at www.PortageCountyTEAParty.com. They will also find videos of many candidates as well as candidate surveys on the website. Those who do not have internet but would like to find out who the organization endorses can call the office at 330-474-3878.
The TEA Party is not a political party but a grassroots cultural movement. The movement is educating American citizens about the Constitution and the uniquely American form of self-governance that has made our country so successful. Through this education, the movement is attempting to re-define what it means to be an American citizen, by encouraging individual to vote, to run for office and to attend government meeting in their area so that they can participate in their self governance. The acronym TEA stands for Totally Engaged Americans.
