January 5, 2010 8:00 PM
The Shalersville Township Trustee meeting came to order at 8:00 P. M. with the finalization of the 2009 year end business and Larry Solak signed off all the necessary papers.
Dennis Bujak, then thanked Larry for his 8 hears of service and for his efforts in obtaining extra acreage for the township for the salt shed and his assistance in the purchase of the old Shalersville Elementary School which has received a do over and is now being leased, plus the gym is available to rent. The building is being paid for without additional taxes and will be paid off in 2 ½ years.
Dennis further welcomed Nancy Vines as the new Trustee and congratulated Frank Ruehr for his re-election and thanked him for his 28 years of previous service.
The first agenda was setting the duties and personnel representative assignments:
Chairman will be Dennis Bujak
Vice Chair will be Frank Ruehr
Representative on the fire Board is Frank Ruehr; alternate Nancy Vines
Regional Planning will be Nancy Vines; alternate Dennis Bujak
Solid Waste will be Dennis Bujak
Supervisor of road crew is Dennis Bujak
Health Board is Frank Ruehr (those meetings conflict with the Trustee meetings)
Discussion was then held on the cemetery fees, town hall usage fees, and the rental of the school gym. Due to the economy, it was decided not to raise any fees.
Frank Ruehr related to the road crew present that he had a few calls complimenting them on a good job done in the severe weather of the last few days and extending his thanks.
The owner of Blue Ryu Media was there and asked to present his information on web page IT.
Dennis Bujak asked pertinent questions on cost and other options were mentioned but a decision was not made without more consideration to cost.
Meetings were set to remain on the first and third Tuesday of the month.
A representative from Townhall II, Care Howell, provided pamphlets and information on two of their programs financed by the stimulus package; Stalking and the Outreach Program.
Jim Garey, Zoning Inspector reported on the court order regarding the clean up of a piece of property by the renter. The property owner is not being held responsible but will be apprised of the clean up order for the renter. He also provided a copy of a proposed monument to possibly be erected at the park on State Route 44 and Nickodemus Road recently purchased by Portage County for a park. Further investigation is needed.
Trustees went into closed session regarding the Road Crew employees and then announced afterward that they would receive $.50 raise per hour.
