SHALERSVILLE TOWNSHIP TRUSTEE MEETING
TUESDAY, JANUARY 19, 2010 AT 8:00 PM
The meeting started promptly at 8:00 pm out in the hall because the heat was not working in the meeting room, with the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 3 trustees and 6 citizens that attended the meeting.
The minutes from the last meeting were not read. but copies were available for everyone that attended the meeting. Dorothy Caldwell looked over a letter from the County Health Care Board. She will read it and will report on it at the next meeting. Literature from Grassroots Clipping was passed around the table for the trustees to look over to see if they were interested in attending a conference where they conducted several workshops.
There were two (2) estimates for the front doors to the school:

Plus there will be an additional cost from Stamm’s for brick & cement around the doors. Broken door inside Shalersville School will need a new frame and new hinges. Also discussion about what to do with area were buses let the children exist the bus. Ground is very muddy. Trustees and road crew had ideas but did settle on a solution at this meeting.
Information was available for Portage County Township Assoc. membership cards. The dates and location for the quarterly meetings are listed below:

11/20/10 Portage County Engineer will assign a location
Road crew needs fuel:
$2.65 Diesel 550 gallons $1,457.50
$2.61 Gasoline 500 gallons $1,305.00
TOTAL $2,762.50
Discussion lead by road crew regarding a new or used pressure washer. It would cost $600.00 for a new pump for the pressure washer. The current pressure washer is 20 years old. Trustees discussed if it was better to buy new because of the age of the current machine or a used one is only under warranty for 90 days. Trustee want to know if the service charge of $162.50 on the old pressure washer would be deducted from the price of the new machine. The road crew was going to contact the company and would discuss that at the next meeting. All were in favor of purchasing the new pressure washer.
The road crew has an estimate of $150 - $175 for a back glass for the backhoe. This price would cover the glass and installation. Motion for $175.00.
The road crew needs street signs for Red Fox at a cost of $55.67. It was decided to try the new resource because of a far greater lower cost and see if their durability was good. Dennis Bujak notice the mileage on two road signs in the area were incorrect. One was for Cooley Road and the other one was for Infirmary Road. Also reflectors are needed for bridge on Peck Road.
Spring clean-up is scheduled for the first weekend in May which would be May 6, May 7 & May 8th.
Nancy Vines wants the results of the survey taken 2 years ago in Shalersville Township. A citizen at the meeting mentioned that Ron Kotkowski probably has the results of the survey.
Banking was set up for Nancy Vines. Still not able to sign checks.
Old business regarding the web page for Shalersville Township. Chuck Casalicchio talked to someone at St. Joe’s Parish regarding cost. Program about $600. Mention that Don started web page and Larry Solak took it over. Person that takes care of web page for Portage County Tea Party was mentioned by a citizen. There will be further discussion at the next meeting.
Credit card for the township to maintain the web page and other usage has not been obtained as of 1/19/2010.
Jayson Garey arrived about 8:45 p.m. Jayson mentioned a short list of permits that were obtained for construction in Shalersville Township. Garey mentioned that the contacts changed at prosecutor’s office due to budget cuts. Dorothy read letter from prosecutor’s office. Chris and Denise will still represent Shalersville Township. Other business mentioned was a property that needs to be cleaned up. A renter lives at property, owner notified via letter. Also a letter was submitted to prosecutor. There was no response as of 1/19/2010. The owners address given to citizen at meeting so citizen can also write to owner regarding the property because citizen lives in the same area.
There was a motion to pay the bills and the meeting was closed.
