The Portage County TEA (Totally Engaged Americans) Party formed 20 sub groups - one for each of the orginal 20 Townships in Portage County. The purpose was to have local people in the sub groups attend meetings, learn about their local governments and schools, participate in the process and when the ballots are finalized, learn about the candidates and then discuss races and decide who would be endorsed.
The Franklin Branch of the Portage County TEA Party has every form of local government - a township - Franklin; a city - Kent; two villages - Brady Lake Village and Sugar Bush Knolls. All of these communities share one school district.
