TEA PARTY ENDORSES JIM GRAHAM FOR CONGRESS
Kent, Ohio - The Portage County TEA Party, a 501(c)4 non-profit corporation, announced today that it has endorsed Republican Candidate Jim Graham for US Congress in the 17th US House District. The TEA Party is legally allowed to endorse candidates for federal office based on the Supreme Court Ruling earlier this year in the Citizens United vs the Federal Elections Commission. The announcement was made by Portage County TEA Party Executive Director, Tom Zawistowski at the groups monthly meeting in Ravenna, Ohio.
In making the announcement, Zawistowski said “Jim Graham has been on our radar since the primary races this spring. The more we got to know Jim, the more our members liked him. An immigrant to our nation from Greece, Jim Graham knows first hand what it means to be an American. He loves America and he believes in the Constitution. As a small business owner, he understands the uniqueness of America and how hard work can take you wherever you want to go - as long as government interference is kept in check. His law enforcement background gives him first hand knowledge of the individual rights we have as citizens and what it takes to protect those rights in the real world. His medical background gives him a personal and professional perspective on medical costs and services and what it takes to fix our health care system. He believes in smaller government, lower taxes and government that follows the Constitution. The Portage County TEA Party strongly endorses his candidacy and asks the voters of Portage County to elect him to Congress on November 2nd.”
In accepting the endorsement, Graham said “ It is with great humility and gratitude that I accept this honor and endorsement from the citizens, neighbors, and American Patriots of the Portage County Tea Party. I accept this honor with the sincere and heartfelt desire to actually serve the district, listen to our fellow neighbors, and be the voice they need on the national level. This is not my race, this is OUR race, and is a necessary exercise of our duty as free and responsible citizens of the greatest nation in the history of man. Thank you, ALL, and may God Bless America!"
The TEA Party is not a political party but a political movement. It is loosely based on the Boston Tea Party of 1773 in which American Colonists rebelled against the “Taxation Without Representation” of the King of England and the English Parliament by dumping tea into Boston Harbor. The initials TEA are today used to show that many current American citizens feel that they are “Taxed Enough Already” by the U.S. Government as well as state and local governments. The movement is attempting to motivate common American citizens to take a more active role in selecting and electing representatives that are committed to representing the people who elected them, instead of their own political parties and other special interest groups.
