FOR RELEASE - August 16, 2010

Portage County TEA Party PAC Endorses Zeller and McKenny for Ohio House seats.

Kent, Ohio -  The Portage County TEA Party Political Action Committee (PAC)  announced today that it has endorsed Republican W. Roak Zeller for the open seat in the 68th Ohio House race and Todd McKenny in the race for the 43rd Ohio House seat.  The announcement was made by Portage County TEA Party PAC Executive Director, Tom Zawistowski at a Press Conference in Brimfield, Ohio.

In making the announcement, Zawistowski said “The TEA Party is a grass roots citizens organization that is looking for candidates that will represent the needs of the people above all else and who have the knowledge and experience to get things done that will benefit the citizens of Ohio.  In Roak Zeller, we find a true citizen representative.  Roak Zeller, is a Kent native, he graduated from Kent Roosevelt and Kent State.  Though he has considerable political experience, having run for the same seat in 2008, he is not a member of the political class.  Like many of his fellow citizens, he works two jobs to pay the bills, while also volunteering with many local charities. He holds strong conservative views and will fight to reduce the size and cost of government and cut the overall tax burden for Ohio Citizens.  His Democratic challenger by contrast, is a card carrying member of the political class.  She has never held a significant job outside of politics. She went right from law school into the political world and most recently was former deputy legal counsel for Ohio House Speaker Armond Budish. She is exactly what the citizens of the 68th Ohio House district do not want. Someone with no real world work experience who is put up for the position by the democratic party powers and feels entitled to the position. She exemplifies what is wrong with our political system. We have had enough of “career” politicians and we strongly endorse W. Roak Zeller as a true citizen representative.”

In accepting the endorsement, Zeller said “My Democratic opponent recently moved back to Portage County for no other reason than to get a job as an elected official.I'm running to fight for jobs for you and your neighbors. She wants to join the Obama/Strickland Team, which will only help to drive us into an even deeper hole of economic despair. I'm asking voters to join me this November and fire this losing team. It is time for us to dig out of this hole, and bring back prosperity for our families.”
